Obama, the debt ceiling and lack of leadership

A flashback that is apt.

"The fact that we're here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. Leadership means 'The buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit."

--Democratic Senator Barack Obama 2006

Holy come back to bite you in your presidential butt Batman!

And, now I am banned from moderate-ville. Unjustly. By the man, himself.

But, really, he did me a favor. I needed to break my habit of going to that worthless place, as nothing virtuous comes out of there. I was undisciplined, and kept going back.

I don't know why it took the man so long to ban me. Part of the reason I went there was to taunt the man: to prick his pretension and condescension. I picked at him on a somewhat regular schedule, and I kept myself just barely on side of propriety. Finally, when he could never catch me saying something which violated his rules, he just creatively interpreted a comment as having violated his rules. He could have done that at any time, on any day. Maybe he believed that I was such a hater that I would eventually violate his rules, except I never did, and eventually he got fed up and trumped up a charge against me. Which is exactly the kind of hypocrisy which I have always enjoyed picking him about.

Oh well: picking at the man was fun, while it lasted. And I am glad it is over: glad the man saved me from my undisciplined self. As a struggling Christian: my going to that site to pick at the man was not high minded and virtuous action; was not God's will for me. My visiting there was unvirtuous, sinful, low down. My banning is a blessing.

Best wishes to you. Always.

BTW: the man excised all of the comments which I ever made at TMV, ever. This is convenient, for him, since many of those comments were pricks at the hot air ballon of his ego. Oh, well: even the deletion of every comment I ever made is a blessing. It is time to move forward, and even that little bit encourages me to move forward. A blessing, for a weak undisciplined sinner who was ignoring God's will.

I recall featuring this hypocrisy on my blog last summer too. You should keep updating, dude (if you are a dude)! Get back at it. There aren't many of us out here -- vocal rebels against both parties and their entire political system. It's a lonely world, and we need every voice we can get. So start updating again. I know it can be a chore and a bitch. But if you don't write it now, then when?
